Summer Collegiate Baseball Coming to Mocksville with Launch of Davie Crocketts

MOCKSVILLE, NC (December 18, 2025) — A new era of summer baseball is coming to Mocksville and Davie County.

The Blue Ridge League has announced the launch of the Davie Crocketts, a summer wood-bat baseball team set to begin play in 2026 at Mocksville’s historic Mando Field at Rich Park.

The Crocketts are being constructed as both a highly competitive on-field product—featuring top college players competing in games throughout the summer—and a distinctive regional brand rooted in history, personality, and place.

The name references legendary frontiersman Davy Crockett while adopting the county’s spelling as his playful first name.

The Crocketts will compete in the Blue Ridge League, one of the premier summer collegiate circuits in the Southeast, with teams across North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, including Winston-Salem’s Carolina Disco Turkeys.

The Davie Crocketts identity draws from frontier-era toughness and independence, a natural fit for a team built around grit, individuality, and local pride. That spirit is reflected in a visual identity designed from the start to live beyond the field—translating to hats, jerseys, and lifestyle apparel.

The team’s primary logo features a rugged frontier character wearing a raccoon cap, rendered in a hand-drawn, textured style that evokes a vintage feel while remaining bold and modern. The mark was intentionally designed to stand on its own as a wearable logo, not just a uniform graphic. To add to the fun and keep things engaging for our younger fans, the human character will be known as Davie, while his cap (apparently still alive) will be Crockett.

The Crocketts’ color palette—deep frontier green, weathered brown, warm tan, and black—was selected for versatility and longevity. The colors connect directly to Mando Field itself, echoing the dark green of the grandstand structure and the warm tan tones of the ballpark’s wood element.

“Our focus is building something that lasts,” said Greg Sullivan, Chairman of the Blue Ridge League. “That means great baseball, but it also means creating a brand people are proud to wear. While Daniel Boone is the frontiersman usually associated with Davie County, we leaned into wordplay and fun. We've always admired Mando Field's character and Mocksville as a baseball town and can't wait to bring it to life this summer.”

There will be upgrades at Mando Field ahead of the Crockets' season to the sound, sightlines and atmosphere of the stadium, in partnership with the Town of Mocksville.

The team will begin play in late May next year and the season goes through late July. Tickets will go on sale this spring, with single-game, group, and season-pass options available. Single-game tickets will be priced at $7. Official Davie Crocketts merchandise is available now at shopcrocketts.com. For sponsorship, businesses may reach Mark Bee at beetrout@yahoo.com.

Fans are encouraged to follow the team’s website and social media channels for schedule updates, roster announcements, and special theme nights.
